The musical career of Grande began at the age of 15 with the Broadway musical "13". The role she played as Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's Victorious (2010-2013) and Sam & Cat (2013) earned her acclaim. After watching YouTube videos of Grande performing her own songs, Republic Records signed Grande in 2011. The 1950s-influenced doo-wop pop and R&B debut album, [2] You're Truly (2013), topped the US Billboard 200, while the album's first single, "The Way", reached the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100. The vocals of Grande and her whistle-like sound on the album were instantly compared with Mariah Carey.
She continued to explore pop and R&B in her second and third album, My Everything (2014) and Dangerous Woman (2016). My Everything was an experiment in EDM. The album's three singles "Problem", Break Free, as well as "Bang Bang" were global hits. Dangerous Woman was her first top-selling album in the UK. Personal struggles led to her trap-infused fourth (2018) and fifth studio albums, Sweetener (2018), which were both critical and commercial triumphs. Sweetener earned her the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U Next set the record for the largest streaming week for pop albums . It also was nominated as Album of the Year. Grande was the first solo performer to be able to hold the Top Three places on the Hot 100, and also the first female artist to reach the top of the UK Singles Chart. The collaborations she made with Justin Bieber in 2020 "Stuck with U" with Justin Bieber and "Rain on Me" with Lady Gaga helped her break record for the highest number of number one songs to debut on the Hot 100, the latter being awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop duo or group performance. Grande expanded on trap with her sixth studio album Positions (2020), where the title track as well as the album's first single debuted at number 1 in the UK. Grande joined forces with The Weeknd to make the remix of "Save Your Tears" in 2021. This was her sixth top-ten US single.
